Organization: Reproductive Health Investors Alliance

Position: Corporate Advocacy and Engagement Lead

Who We Are

The Reproductive Health Investors Alliance (The Alliance) is a collaborative of foundations and investors that has come together to bring new investment, enterprise, and collective efforts into the reproductive health space in the United States. The Alliance team will identify, vet and incubate deals and solutions for reproductive health and justice. For more information, please visit www.reprohealthinvestors.org.

What We Believe

We believe that reproductive health has been historically under-funded and deserves more attention in these turbulent times. We believe that through collaboration we will create more powerful solutions. We believe that investment can move the field in new and innovative ways. And, we believe that we can and will expect financial returns for our investments in this space.

Our Focus

At the Alliance, our primary focus is to bring new types of capital and companies into the field of reproductive health to benefit women in the United States. We will jointly grant, loan, and invest the capital of our robust and growing network that includes: philanthropies, family offices, equity investors, and other financial institutions. And, we will incubate and grow sustainable businesses that support the fields of the reproductive health and justice.

Our Team and Our Culture

We are investment professionals, strategic leads and operations executives who are dedicated to the mission of improving women’s reproductive health, have the experience to hit the ground running, and have a growth mindset for ourselves and our organization. We value diversity, have the courage to trust quickly and engage honestly, and deliver high quality results consistently over time in a work environment that is flexible and accounts for our families and private lives. We value collaboration, kindness, academic rigor, and learning from our victories as well as our failures. We are continuously developing ourselves and our organization.

The Role

Corporations could do more for the reproductive health of the women who work for them. Some companies do not provide insurance coverage for abortions, and a new executive order allows companies to avoid paying for contraception for their female employees. The Educational Foundation of America and the Tara Health Foundation are supporting work to create visibility surrounding the policies and actions of different corporations when it comes to reproductive health, and this work is early in its lifecycle. The Corporate Accountability Lead will bring this effort to the next level. They will develop a broad understanding of women’s needs and corporations’ roles in meeting them, identify other social movements’ best practices (and worst) that the Reproductive Health and Justice communities can learn from, and launch experiments/prototypes of different levers (tools and actions) that shareholders can use to drive change in this area across corporations, in specific states and nationally. The goal is to take a proactive – as opposed to reactive – stance in the field.

We are seeking a professional with demonstrated experience in understanding and developing strategies to drive change in large corporations and in prototyping and scaling targeted tactics to achieve measurable results (communication campaigns, shareholder activism campaigns, corporate advising, etc.). This person should have some knowledge of the drivers behind corporate decisions related to employee benefits. The Corporate Accountability Lead should also have a deep orientation toward the mission of the fields of reproductive health and justice and potentially some expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the landscape and learn from other social movements
  • Identify levers and prototype/experiment to drive and determine impact
  • Scale/launch regional/state-specific and national initiatives where appropriate
  • Collaborate in the development and growth of the Alliance and its initiatives

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects/events simultaneously
  • Demonstrated strategic agility and creative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity, resilience, and flexibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
