Position: Portfolio Manager
Job Description: One of the defining characteristics of GFF’s grantmaking is our venture philanthropy approach. This means that we partner with our grantees, working closely on business planning, strategy, organizational development, impact measurement and fundraising. GFF’s portfolio consists of early stage visionaries with the potential to scale their organizations, programs and impact. The Portfolio Manager is a new position designed to deepen this work - helping enable our portfolio to reach its full potential of scale and impact.
Responsibilities
The Portfolio Manager will report to our portfolio director and spend the majority of their time working closely with our international portfolio of grantees. The Portfolio Manager will work across GFF’s various approaches, areas of focus, and grantee regions (currently Asia, Europe and Australia).
Portfolio support, including:
· Business/strategic planning
· Organizational health assessments and development
· Impact measurement and reporting
· Fundraising and financial sustainability planning
Furthering the field:
· Engage with our network of funders and organizations we collaborate with to ensure maximum impact of GFF’s grantee portfolio
· Convene and support meetings around issues relevant to multiple grantees
· Identify and report lessons learned
· Identify and support the growth of promising leaders
Qualifications
1. 5–10 years of experience at the program manager/program officer level or other relevant work experience, ideally including experience with a consulting firm
2. Graduate degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, MPP, or other relevant degree)
3. Non-Profit experience required, preferably in climate and energy.
4. Grantmaking experience preferred.
5. International experience required, preferably in Asia.
6. Business and strategy planning experience required
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
8. Excellent analytical skills, including financial planning and advanced proficiency in Excel
9. Experience working autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of a team
10. Ability to travel significantly, including international travel
11. Skilled in one or more language from the South Asian, East Asian or South-East Asian region
