Confluence Philanthropy’s Program Director is a key leadership position with significant management, planning, and communication responsibility. We are recruiting a dynamic, charismatic, and detail-oriented ‘servant- leader’ motivated by the idea of growing a cutting-edge organization. Our next era of growth will rely upon the ability of the Program Director to cultivate relationships and partnerships, organize groundbreaking events, and to facilitate working groups. The Program Director will work directly with the CEO and management committee to strategize program development across multiple issue areas. The Program Director position offers ample opportunity for creativity, network building, and professional growth. We are looking for a motivated professional who will take charge of this position, making a minimum three year commitment to the organization.

 

Reports to: CEO

Compensation: Full-time $95,000 - $115,000 salaried, plus highly competitive benefits

Staff Reports: 3 full-time

Location: Downtown Oakland, California with ability to work virtually with our NYC office. Must be

available weekdays starting at 9:00 am PT – 6 pm PT. Domestic travel will be a required component of

this job. The location is non-negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management and Development: Provide direction and oversight to the program team in the development and management of membership programs, including special projects and working groups. Foster team collaboration and virtual communication using apps, website and social media platforms. Maintain organized CMS to track member engagement and other relevant metrics. Guide systems that support staff in contributing to these platforms. Recruit consultants as needed within budgetary constraints. Experienced manager with strong program development skills required; community organizing skills a plus.
  • Member Engagement and Volunteer Management: Confluence prides itself on being a vibrant, closely knit community. Develop authenticate relationships with members and partners in order to deepen the quality of our programming and to enrich the membership experience. Expect 6-8 domestic trips per year. Ability to build trust and easy rapport with a diverse group of actors required. Ability to engage deeply in discussions about the investing landscape for philanthropies.
  • Evaluation and Research: Guide the annual review and assessment of membership programs by overseeing the collection of membership data and program metrics. Work with the program team to vision the monthly collection of information for blogs, e-news, and other communication materials. Oversee the content creation of publications across program areas. Prior experience in publication content editing and production required.
  • Annual Conference Leadership: Play a significant role in developing content for Confluence’s annual 3.5 day conference in collaboration with program staff and CEO. See: www.confluencegathering.org. Prior conference organizing experience required.
  • Fundraising and Grant writing: Cultivate funding relationships. Co-author grants and reports for restricted projects and working groups in partnership with the Managing Director. Design program budgets and oversee consultants’ contract compliance. Strong proposal writing experience requiredWriting samples will be requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in non-profit management, communications, or graduate experience equivalent required, MBA preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Working knowledge of the impact investing industry required.
  • Fundraising and grant writing experience required.
  • Conference planning experience required.
  • Non-profit experience required.
  • Extensive computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Detail-oriented work style, required.
  • Have a highly organized, efficient and self-directed work style.
  • Emotional maturity, and the ability to perform under pressure with ‘high power’ executives with grace, poise, and hopefully even humor.
  • A high level of discretion for both professional and personal affairs.
  • Strong interest in environmental and social investing, and the path to a new economy.
  • Ability to work in a small office environment required.
