CONFLUENCE PHILANTHROPY SUPPORTS WHITE HOUSE CLEAN ENERGY INITIATIVE WITH LAUNCH OF THE CLIMATE SOLUTIONS COLLABORATIVE (C2C)

Confluence Philanthropy & CREO Syndicate

Confluence Philanthropy is proud to have collaborated with the White House and the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation at Georgetown University in kicking off their Clean Energy Summit on June 16th. The White House Department of Energy recently announced its Clean Energy Investment Initiative, with the goal of mobilizing $2 billion in philanthropic investment toward clean energy solutions and sustainable growth. The Initiative exceeded the effort - raising $4 billion in commitments in the form of grants, PRI¹s, and investments. Leading this effort, the U.S. Department of Energy has launched The Clean Energy Impact Investment Center, which will identify world-class experts, technologies and programs to scale up clean energy from R&D all the way through growth. Confluence looks forward to ongoing collaboration with the Impact Investment Center and related offices.

In conjunction with the Summit, Confluence Philanthropy and CREO Syndicate formed to a new partnership called The Climate Solutions Collaborative (C2C). The goal is to accelerate investment in climate solutions from within family offices and foundations.  Transitioning to a clean energy economy requires a big push in funding and coordination across the energy landscape, from R&D and business growth to smart planning. This not only requires funding but also expert coordination and collaboration. The new program will be formed over the course of 2015, and will focus on building knowledge and providing more structured access to the expertise, capital and resources that private asset owners need in order invest in coherent climate solutions strategy. C2C will bring together the combined force of Confluence Philanthropy and CREO Syndicate memberships ‹ representing more than $150 billion of investable capital and provide them with the tools and support needed to synthesize and execute a climate strategy. The goal of this commitment is to accelerate investments that mitigate climate change amongst our respective memberships by at least 20% by 2020 from their 2014 levels.

Confluence Philanthropy organized a delegation of impact investors and donors representing $3.2 billion from its direct membership, including $1.2 billion in foundation assets, to attend the Clean Energy Summit on June 16th. We appreciate the participation of those that made the journey to Washington DC to join us, and those that signed on. We would especially like to acknowledge those members that were able to support this auspicious event:
