Despite welcomed statements and announcements by some banks ahead of COP21, there remains a huge divide between current practices of banking institutions and the financial sector’s potential to support the transition to a low-carbon future.

Confluence Philanthropy is pleased to host a webinar about Boston Common Asset Management’s Impact Report: “Are Banks Prepared for Climate Change?”. The report examines 61 of the world’s largest banks’ management of climate-related risks, and identifies the top 10 performers. Boston Common assessed the banks across three criteria: ‘risk management’, ‘climate change strategy’ and ‘opportunities’.

The results showed:

  • Inadequate disclosure across the industry
  • Some of the biggest banks are not at the table
  • A $4.8 trillion opportunity not yet grasped

Speakers to include:

  • Sonia Kowal (Moderator), President, Zevin Asset Management
  • Lauren Compere, Managing Director/Director of Shareholder Engagement, Boston Common Asset Management and Lead Author of “Are Banks Prepared for Climate Change?”
  • Peter Martin, Executive Director, Sierra Club Foundation
  • Vincent Siciliano, President & CEO, New Resource Bank

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Participation in this event is open to grantmakers and donors, and Confluence Philanthropy Advisor Members only, and is not open to grantseeking organizations, investment firms seeking to fundraise or students.
