Roundtable Discussion: Yes to Life, No to Mining: At The Intersection of Indigenous Rights, Rights

Confluence Philanthropy is honored to host a special event with Liz Hosken, Executive Director at the London-based Gaia Foundation, in discussion with Wahleah Johns, Solar Project Manager at the Black Mesa Water Coalition. Liz and Wahleah will share their experiences in accompanying indigenous and local communities threatened by mining and extraction in the southwestern United States and in Africa.

From this presentation, Confluence will facilitate a group discussion about the strategies that funders can use to fight mining, from community organizing and global solidarity movements for systemic change, to shareholder engagement or divestment. This portion of the event will feature campaign expert, Atossa Soltani, Founder and former Executive Director of Amazon Watch, and investment advisor, Andy Behar, CEO of As You Sow. Please join us for what will unquestionably be a moving event.
