Harassment, Guns & Data Security this Proxy Season

#MeToo, 'March for Our Lives,' and 'Delete Facebook' are social movements that have energized and empowered activists and consumers around gun violence, sexual harassment and data security. Foundations and other institutional investors are in a unique position as shareholders to both support these movements and leverage public pressure to further their own philanthropic missions. By filing shareholder resolutions and voting their proxies, investors can look beyond the behavior of one corporation and help redefine best practices for an entire industry.

This webinar will spotlight this year’s trending shareholder resolutions and provide investor guidance about how to further advance these issues. We will hear from investors who have filed resolutions at Facebook, Equifax and some of the leading gun manufacturers. The discussion will highlight achievements and next steps.

Featured Speakers:

Cambria Allen, Corporate Covernance Director, United Auto Workers Retiree Medical Benefits Trust

Brianna Murphy, Vice President, Shareholder Advocacy, Trillium Asset Management

Meredith Benton, Lead, Whistle Stop Capital (moderator)

The webinar is hosted by Confluence Philanthropy’s Active Owners Working Group, a collection of investors and advisors committed to shareholder engagement. If you are interested in learning more about the Working Group or would like to get involved, contact our team here.
