Please join Confluence Philanthropy and the Mission Fish Working Group for a roundtable discussion at the Boston Foundation in Boston, MA from 12:00 - 4:00 pm, including lunch. This event will bring together national and regional funders in conversation about place-based investing in sustainable fisheries and food systems in the New England region. Importantly, this roundtable will challenge participants to approach the issues with an understanding fish as food, and healthy fisheries as an integral part of a sustainable regional and global food system.
This four-hour roundtable will discuss several place-based initiatives being pursued in the region, with special attention to identifying investment gaps. Funders will explore a range of investment vehicles, including cash, program related investments, equity investments, guarantees, and other MRI mechanisms, as well as grants, and when one tool might be more effective than another to create the intended impact. This will be a chance to dive a bit deeper into some of the opportunities for mission-related investing and catalytic grantmaking in this field.
In the morning (from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm) there will be a funder-only Mission Fish working meeting to promote coordination of the mission-related investment already taking place in the Gulf of Maine through the development of a landscape scan. If you’re interested in attending this portion, please reach out to Sarah DeNicola, Confluence Philanthropy: sarah@confluencephilanthropy.org.
