Women's Cacao Ceremony: Offering for the Climate

ABOUT THIS EVENT
Confluence Philanthropy is honored to host a small group of women from within our Advisor Membership to participate in a traditional Mayan Cacao Ceremony with Indigenous Mayan spiritual guide and healer Nana Marina Cruz from the Tz'utujl tribe in Guatemala, Lake Atitlan. As we gather for NYC Climate Week 2022, this private ceremony will allow us the opportunity to co-create a reflective and healing space for the work we must do to address the harms of climate change.

ABOUT THE CEREMONY
Mayan peoples work with Cacao in a ceremonial way that has been passed on through the generations. Its origin is written in the book of Popol Vuj, which shares the history and mythology of Mayan K'iche nation. Cacao holds the properties to open the heart and bring awareness inside, which strengthens our confidence in our higher self and shepherds us on the path of love.

During the ceremony, Nana Marina will share the cosmovision of The Mayan world including symbolism and deep wisdom of the tradition. This knowledge is passed on orally from generation to generation. Nana Marina Cruz will also draw on the Mayan calendar to shape the energy of the evening.

ABOUT OUR GUIDE + WISDOM KEEPER
Nana Marina Cruz, Healer, Ceremonial Leader, Teacher of Indigenous Mayan Language and therapist of natural folk methods. Daughter of Tata Pedro Cruz, acknowledged spiritual guide Tz'utujil.

PREPARATION:
It is recommended to abstain from alcohol, coffee, drugs, cigarettes, junk food, meat, stress and conflicts the day before and day after the ceremony. During the ceremony, we will drink 100% cacao directly brought from Guatemala. It is recommended to wear comfortable outfit in light/white/colorful tones. Flowers and fruits are welcome for the common space.
