Virtual Discussion of the Film, The Social Dilemma

Members are invited to join Confluence for a virtual discussion of the documentary, The Social Dilemma. Participants will view the film in advance and join group discussion.

The Social Dilemma, released by Netflix, touches on one of the most significant advances in all of human history — the advent of social media. This thought-provoking, interesting, and downright terrifying film features the voices of tech experts as they sound the alarm about the impacts that these platforms have on our lives. The conversation will tackle concepts such as technology addiction, social engineering, and surveillance capitalism.

An exciting and thought-provoking addition to our movie discussion will include a Q&A with the director of The Social Dilemma, Jeff Orlowski. Jeff will share his motivation for making the film, and will also include the perspective of internet venture capitalist, Jerry Colonna. He will share his outlook on the movie and provide an insider’s view of the social media industry as a tech investment pioneer.

Anna Fink, Executive Director of Amalgamated Foundation, will moderate the discussion with Q&A.

Please Note: Participants should be sure to watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix at their own convenience prior to the event.

RSVP by December 7
Space for this intimate event is limited and offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
